Welcome to the Moodle Sandbox!

Dear DigPed Team,

Web and computer programmers often use the term "Sandbox" to refer to a website or program where you can try out different designs or codes without breaking the system. When you find something that you like there, you put it on your own site or in your own program.

Since several of you are interested in working in school administration or having your own schools, it might be helpful for you to see what a Learning Management System (LMS) like Moodle can do.

A friend from my doctoral program said we can use his Moodle site for our Sandbox. You should find an email invitation to log into moodle.bilimedtech.com

If you log in, you'll find a short course (1-2 hours) that Dr. Hetrick designed on how to use Moodle. You will also see that you're listed as a teacher for the Sandbox. If you go in as a teacher, you can try all of the tools that Dr. Hetrick described in his training, and you can see if a tool like this could help you in the future.

Just to clarify, AUCA's ecourse is all designed through Moodle. Moodle is free if you host it on your own server. However, it costs about $1-2 USD per user for a year if you have someone else host it. a

This training from Dr. Hetrick and the Sandbox are NOT required for this course. They're just options if you'd like them for your upcoming research and design projects.

Enjoy!
