To to that, you'll need to complete the following task.
A. Learn how to use each of the following tools. You can find instructions on the websites below, or look for tutorials online. (I really like YouTube as a way of learning new apps because I can see the demonstrations and control the video speed.)
B. As you study and test each tool, evalute it according to the following criteria:
- Is this technology fairly easy for me to learn to use?
- Is this technology fairly easy for my students to learn to use?
- Would using this technology help my students master the objectives of my course more quickly?
- Would this technology help my students have a positive attitude toward the course?
- Would this technology help my students bulid self-efficacy? (Self-efficacy is the belief that you are able to succeed. Research indicates that increased self-efficacy is usually correlated with long-term academic and career success.)
- Would my learning community (students, colleagues, adminstrators, parents) like this technology?
- What are the ways this technology could negatively impact my students?
C. Imagine that you're launching a YouTube or TikTok channel about digital pedagogy or educational technology. Prepare a series of videos (2-3 minutes) in which you give a review of the technology. You can make the video in the language of your students or colleagues, but pleaase provide an English transcript.
- Include images or videos of products that you made with the tool.
- Include your voice.
- Give a clear description of the apps's purpose.
- Explain the pros and cons of using the app for education in your area.
- Give a clear answer to the question of whether or not your recommend it.
- Make it interesting and creative.
D. You my choose to have your videos on YouTube, a personal blog, your personal website, TikTok, or a similar tool.
E. You can work individually, with a partner, or in groups to study the tools, but each of you must present your own final work. For instance, you may help each other film the videos, but each of you must make your own videos.
F. When you're finished, paste links to all of your videos here. BE SURE TO GIVE US PERMISSION TO SEE THE VIDEOS.
G. Watch at least 3 videos from 5 of your colleagues and reply with things you liked about their videos and things they could do better.
