The
aim of this course is to provide students with an overview of contemporary
development aid and political aspects of it. The course will focus on politics,
political economics and geopolitics of development aid to enhance students’
understanding of the issue with the use of theories and cases. Specifically,
the course will cover definitions and scope of development aid and politics,
brief history of development aid, major theories and debates of development,
international relations, international political economy, foreign policy and
diplomacy, international organizations and banks, sustainable development and
environmental issues, human rights, gender issues in development aid, global
south and global north, etc.
